Vocational Training

The German vocational training system is well-known around the globe. There are approx. 400 officially recognized vocational trades in Germany. Most are taught using the cooperative education model. In other words, students learn not only in the classroom, but also on the job. Some vocational trades, especially in the social and health sectors, are taught at vocational schools. A vocational training program in Germany generally lasts two to three years.
